New Publication – From Photo to Fabrication (Photo2Fab)!

We are pleased to announce the publication of our paper, From Photo to Fabrication (Photo2Fab): A Design-to-Fabrication Workflow using Irregular Tree Parts, Machine Learning, and Mixed Reality, at the 2026 Conference of the Association for Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia (CAADRIA).

This research presents Photo2Fab, a novel computational design-to-fabrication workflow that harnesses the potential of irregular, naturally grown tree parts as design and fabrication elements. Rather than discarding the idiosyncratic geometry of branches and forks, the workflow embraces their uniqueness,  transforming raw material variability from a fabrication challenge into a design opportunity. The conference paper, co-authored with students Karthick Raja Bangaru Giridharan and Shahzadi Padda, was presented at CAADRIA 2026.
