October 2017 – My collaborator R. Allen Kimel and I presented our work entitled, “Material Matters: A model for the design and construction of low-cost, high performance energy-efficient housing in Burkina Faso, West Africa” at Penn State’s 2iE West African Speakers Series, and Materials Day. We presented our on-site research conducted in June in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The work was supported by a $10k Humanitarian Materials Initiative Research Grant from the Materials Research Institute. Carried out in collaboration with 2iE, our work looks into developing a sustainable approach to the design and construction of housing in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
