Aug. 11. 2015 – I presented my paper, “The Bailey-Derek Grammar: Recording the Craft of Wire-Bending in the Trinidad Carnival” at SIGGRAPH 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The paper presents work on the development of a shape grammar which records the dying, undocumented craft of wire-bending in the Trinidad Carnival. SIGGRAPH is the world’s largest conference on computer graphics, takes place annually, and is attended by tens of thousands of computer graphics professionals. As one of the most highly respected venues for the presentation of new computer graphics technology and research, the conference’s installations provide close-up views of the latest in digital art, emerging technologies, and hands-on opportunities for creative collaboration.
